What Emily Resolved for the New Year

The start of a New Year is the perfect time to turn a new page, which is probably why so many people make New Year’s resolutions. Resolutions are things that people want to change or they want to happen. The most popular New Year’s resolutions are losing weight, stop smoking, traveling more, and spending less.

Every year, Emily told herself “this year is going to be different. I am going to start exercising and eating healthier.” Every year she made the same resolution but she failed to keep it. However, this year was going to be different because she decided to set a realistic goal.

She learned that setting small goals is better than trying to make big life changes. So she promised herself that she would run one mile every day. She also said that she would eat at least five different fruits every week.

As weeks went by, Emily found it easier to keep her resolution. In the past she only exercised once in a while, and she did not have a plan on what she was going to do. Now she is doing so well that she increased her goal. She is running two miles a day and she keeps eating healthy. She feels great about the change she is making; she feels healthier and happier than ever.
